  1. I use Choosy for every link the system sees. Although this is superduper, it poses a big problem with applications like GarageSale. Therefore I would like a rule where I can say that when in application 'GarageSale', do nothing.

  2. In NetNewsWire, for example, pressing return on an article brings up Choosy. Pressing return again chooses my preferred browser, which opens the link in the background, as I have set in NetNewsWire, but then the NNW window is no longer active, so I must click the mouse to bring it back to the foreground.

Choosy had this feature for a long time, it was subsequently broken by some macOS changes, but as of version 1.3 it’s working correctly again.

  4. I find myself often copying a link from one browser to another because I want to use a plugin not available in the current browser. Would be cool if Choosy was available within a browser or on the address bar to open the link under the cursor in a browser of choice.

  6. Choosy seems to request that the system switch to the NVidia 330M graphics card rather than integrated graphics when running on the latest Macbook Pro.

This is detected using : http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus/

The downside of this is that it can have a significant impact on battery life, especially given that it's a background/resident app.

Choosy 1.1 on Mavericks and El Capitan no longer requires the high performance graphics card.

The “Energy” tab in Activity Monitor indicates Choosy is behaving well: no requirement for the high performance graphics card, even when the browser prompt is displayed, and a very low average energy impact, even after several days of heavy use.

  9. I reinstalled it and it works under Snow Leopard. But still, I wonder whether there will be further versions.

  10. I paid $12 for a license August 31 and despite three emails and complaint to Paypal have still not received any response!

George Brocklehurst's weblog has updates as recently as September 4 so it would seem he's not in the hospital. He doesn't seem like a deadbeat.... what's the deal?

  11. I realise that behaviour rules are evaluated in the order they are listed (which makes sense). And I appear to be able to drag and drop rules into a different order. But, the order doesn't then seem to persist. Which means that some of my ChoosyFluid-inserted rules are persisting below "Always open up links from some applications in my favourite browser" and I want the Fluid ones to take precedence.

I'm off to see if I can tweak the configuration directly to make it persist, but I'm wondering if there's a buglet whereby order changes aren't being automatically saved?

  13. Currently Snow Leopard System Preferences has to relaunch in 32-bit mode in order to support Choosy - it would be great to add 64-bit mode for a smoother user experience.

  14. Choosy is installed and working beautifully, and set as standard browser in Safari. Until I restart... Almost every time I restart (I'd say 80-90 % of the time), Choosy has disabled itself in the System Preferences and Safari has taken the position of default browser.

So the first thing I need to do when I restart the computer is to go to System Preferences, click OK in the "Choosy is disabled" dialogue box (that's a very annoying little box), and check "Enable Choosy for links" and Enable Choosy for HTML files".

This was the case in the beta versions and…

There hasn’t been any new feedback on this issue in a long while, and with the significant changes to Choosy’s architecture in 2.0 I’m going to close this.

Feel free to open a new issue if similar problems come up in the post-2.0 world!

  16. I purchased Choosy yesterday, and it's been running since. However, I nearly fell off my chair when I switched to Task Manager, and see that Choosy is at the top of the list with 515MB Real Memory used.. That's about 100MB more than FireFox with 28 tabs open!

Are you aware of any memory problems?

  18. I think that you would get much more traffic if you sent this app to apple downloads. They get more than 50,000 downloads a day, so with people searching, you would become much more recognized.

  19. This final version is more buggy than the beta? Camino now wont open if I use Choosy, keeps crashing. Doesn't matter if the app is already running or not. But only when I use Choosy to open it.
As Camino didn't update for quite some time now and Choosy just did I fear the bug is on your end.

  20. There is some confusion on this new version, Webkit and Safari used to have different icons on Choosy wheel on beta, but after installing the final version today, only Safari is recognized. Webkit is on the list but it doesn't show up in any way. Clicking on Safari brings only the Safari window.
Also the new version of the wheel is hideous. Ok, it is fine to have some feedback on what URL is about to open, but the former version was WAY more elegant. I am trying to get used to it.
