I’ve not had any reports of problems in Big Sur other than the few comments here, and Choosy is working fine for me on Big Sur on both Intel and M1 Macs.

Can anyone provide any further detail beyond “it’s not working”?

I think I've found *my* root cause: I didn't have a LAST rule that sent "link type = website address" to "Always use THIS browser". Once that is in place, the behavior I had on Mojave resumed working.

Most specifically, without the LAST rule in place, Choosy's 'open' method didn't work:
    set choosy_url to "x-choosy://open/https://cnn.com"
    open location choosy_url

I can corroborate this report. With Choosy 2.2.1 on a fresh Big Sur 11.4, it seems to work as the default browser for a short amount of time, perhaps as little as thirty minutes. After a while, however, URL clicks from other apps (Mail, Tweetbot) no longer respond.

Happy to gather whatever data might be helpful. Feel free to contact directly, atlauren at you see eye dot edu or @ atlauren on the bird thing.
