Welcome to Choosy’s official feedback forum. Do you have an idea? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? I want to hear from you!

I suggest you...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. let me send choosy server a LIST of urls

I want to click on an x-choosy url presented by a number of apps and servers (all localhost in my case, but ...) and send choosy a LIST of urls to open according to its rules.

  2. "thank you for registering" should not be red

When I open the Choosy pref pane, I immediately see red text at the bottom and think, "oh no! what's wrong?"

Nothing is wrong - you're drawing my attention to a non-essential piece of information to tell me that you're thankful I registered.

    1. Ideally, you would swap out the license info form for a display of my information (I shouldn't need to click "Save" again once my license key was verified).

    2. At the very least, use black text for this message (or other HIG-compatible color that does not usually signify an error).

  3. fix the menu to exhibit more typical behavior

e.g., dragging from one menu to yours doesn't pop up the options immediately.

  4. give the option to exclude Fluid apps from the browser chooser

...or let us select which browsers to include in the chooser by way of a check box in the list of browsers in System Preferences.

As it is, when one has a lot of Fluid apps, the chooser becomes way to big.

  5. add ftp programs to Choosy

How about extending Choosy to detect & use FTP programs too? I use two or three depending on my mood. So clicking an FTP link and showing me my options would be a natural progression for Choosy

    Thanks

  6. Improve browser icons...

The browser icons look *fuzzy* at all sizes. They feel out of focus. Can those be made crisp? (I've been using choosy all of 5 minutes and it's already annoying me. Otherwise, I'm really liking it.)

  7. remove the git repo from the distributable

While looking for a while to automate a global git status I noticed Choosy includes a git repo within its resources.

    ~/Library/PreferencePanes/Choosy.prefPane/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ChoosyHelp/.git

  8. If only one browser is running, use that browser

If I have any single browser running, I want to open links in that browser

If I have two or more browsers running, I want the Choosy prompt

Choosy works by setting itself as the default browser. This problem often arises when another browser sets itself as the default (e.g. many browsers nag you to set them as the default when they are launched, and if you do so Choosy will be disabled)

Could this be the cause of your problem?

  10. Advanced rule source app shows blank

In Choosy 1.3 on Mojave 10.14.5 there is a problem with adding advanced rules based on source application. Unlike some of the other open issues here, the rule does actually work for me. But the application name appears blank in the rule list.

  11. The helper does not launch on login on Yosemite

I have to launch the helper manually after each restart on Yosemite. This wasn't the case on Mavericks.

  12. open in choosy

When I right-click a link in Safari and click "Open with Choosy", it brings up a list of browsers. I would like Choosy to use my rules to determine which browser to use. Is this possible?

  14. Fix bug: Choosy 1.3 does not appear in 10.14 System Preferences

Choosy is working as the default browser, but it does not appear in System Preferences, so I can't change any of its options. Help, please!

  16. Paid for choosy; sometimes, it just stops working during a work session

Just recently had Choosy *stop* working during a session, after it has worked fine for a period. For instance, I am in Mail now and a link click simply launches the default browser -- the box of browser icons doesn't appear. Five minutes before, it had been working fine. This has happened 3 times in the past several days, during which Apple I believe has released some software updates I installed, so perhaps that's the problem.

  18. route by availability of domain in keyring

I use different browsers by security domain: unauthenitcated, authenticated, sensitive. I have a separate keyring for sensitive domains. It is quite cumbersome to add many "webaddress contains" rules in the advanced tab. Improvments would be:
    (a) pop up a window that will allow browser selection for the first time a domain is opened, and
    (b) look up if a domain is listed in an unlocked keyring and select a default browser based on it.
