  1. I just tried Choosy on Mac OS X 10.6.3 64bit. Unfortunately, it isn't working, When clicking a link, absolutely nothing happens, even though I defined actions. Also, no menubar icon is displayed, no matter what.

  3. When I click a link from an email in Entourage, it brings the browser called by Choosy to the foreground. Would love to tell Choosy to always open links in the background

  5. Not sure what happened but after a Chrome restart, if I now try and select Chrome to open a URL, the choosy dialog graphic just moves down to where I clicked. I see the menu bar switch to "Google Chrome" however, so it seems like it's activating Chrome just not able to get the URL to it.

Is there a log file or something I might be able to look at to try and figure out what has happened? Is this a known issue at all?

    I'm on Chrome 55.0.2883.95, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5).

  6. I'm using Chrome SSBs on Mac for sites like Gmail.

First, I'd like all links clicked in the Gmail SSB to open in the standard Chrome instance, without needing to right click and select "Open with Choosy".

Second, even when I do click "Open with Choosy", the link will open in the wrong chrome instance. Instead of opening in standard Chrome, as I selected, the link will open in one of the SSB Chromes.

  7. I installed Choosy. I gave it one simple rule, which is to open all links with a particular URL in a particular browser. It doesn't work.

I read through all of the documentation and couldn't find anything I'm doing wrong.

I tested first with "use choosy for links" not checked. But clicking on links just opens in my default browser, as usual. I tested next with "use choosy for links," which asks me if I want choosy to be my default browser. I said yes. But clicking on links results in nothing happening at all.

    I tested by clicking links…

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Several Chrome windows opened (chrome has a pending update)
    2. Launched link with Chrome (via Slack > Choosy)
    3. Tried removing and adding chrome back to choosy browser list but issue persists

    Expected:
    1. New tab opened in most recently active window, url is visited

    Actual Result:
    1. New empty window launched, url not visited

    Reported System Error:
    {subsystem: 'com.apple.launchservices', category: 'default', description: 'LSExceptions shared instance invalidated for timeout.'}

    ps, love your app

p.p.s the ajax request event (triggered while trying to type a title)…

  9. Attempting to set a custom modifier key and am unable to set it. This is using 2.1 on Catalina. Looks like it is keeping a default of ⌘-shift but you cannot change it.

  10. From the menu bar add the ability to quickly select certain other preferences e.g. 'use best running browser'

  11. Ability to lock the browser choice to a particular browser selected in the menu item's menu, until disabled again. Choosy won't be shown when opening URLs, but the browser selected when locking is automatically chosen.

  12. URL's with spaces (either " " or "%20") stopped working at some point:

    x-choosy://prompt.all/https://www.azimuthproject.org/azimuth/show/Experiments%20in%20Differential%20Logic

I'm pretty sure the logjam is at the macosx prefpane app, but I haven't proven that yet.

If it's not obvious what the problem is, tell me what more I need to do?

  13. When you set a rule to open links in a given browser, it'd be great to have an option to open them in a new window or in an existing one.

  15. Thanks for adding opening specifically to incognito on Chrome! It's really great.
The current issue I have is that even when specify to open non-incognito, Chrome seems to open the url in the front most window, even if it's incognito.
I understand that this is this has always been the existing behavior, and I'm not sure if this is possible, but the new feature made me want more :)

    Thanks for the great product.

  19. I often get URLs in Adium and other places that were pasted from Firefox which leaves them incorrect by html-encoding the URL. This results in "http://foo.com/?bar&baz" rather than "http://foo.com/?bar&baz"

A simple regexp substitution could fix this; allowing a generic external rewrite API would be even better.

As a workaround, I'll see if I can write an app that accepts such URLs, and sends the corrected ones back to Choosy; then I can have Choosy send them to it rather than a 'real' browser…
