Sync rules between machines
I'd love to be able to sync the rules between multiple machines so I don't have to re-create rules on my desktop, laptop, etc.

Chrome Beta and Chrome Canary multi-profile support
I love that Choosy supports individual Chrome profiles. Unfortunately the feature does not work with Google Chrome Beta or Google Chrome Canary. Would it be possible to support profiles in those browser variants as well?

Make the "Use this browser..." interface clearer
When setting up a rule, if the resulting action ends in "...", the interface does not make clear what the user should do to finish the setup process. The simplest way to make the interface clearer would probably be to change the text on the "Change" button to something like "Pick" or "Choose", and perhaps use a placeholder with text like "No browser chosen" where the browser icon and browser name would be once a browser has been chosen.
If you were to redesign the interface a little bit more, it might make sense to make the entire area below…

Allow browser extension to automatically capture certain URLs
If, for example, I type in a GitHub URL or click on a link in the browser that points to a GitHub URL, and I have Choosy set up to open GitHub URLs in a different browser (such as a single-site browser), it would be nice if the Choosy extension could automatically capture that URL and open it in the specified browser, rather than depending on me clicking the Choosy toolbar icon.
Does this make sense?
Basically, links in the browser should behave like links in, say, Mail, and open in the correct browser rather than just the browser you're…

What sort of volume pricing would be necessary to see a $1 per copy price?
Because "#search=..." functionality does not seem to work in Chrome.
My potential project needs urls to launch in Firefox from Chrome using urls of the suffix form: ...pdf#search="wordToSearchFor" (Since I control the urls, yes I can use the Choosy url API prefixes)

Rule for `Web address` `contains in domain`
When specifying a string for a web address, allow "contains in domain" as an option.
For example, I have an account with Fidelity. They have multiple domains and subdomains, so I'd like to be able to write a rule that triggers for pages on "fidelity.com" or "www.fidelity.com" or "fidelitynetbenefits.com" to open in the specified browser, but I would not want the rule to trigger for "otherwebsite.com/reviews/fidelity"
I know this can be approximated with regex, but that seems finicky, and I think this issue may occur often enough to be worth having a dedicated option.

Allow for feature sponsorship
There are a number of features that have been lingering. Human constraints are obviously a factor and this is just part of life. What if people could throw dollars to sponsor a particular feature they liked?

Choosy Configured for File Extensions
It would be great to set choosy as the default for a specific file extension and have it display a list of multiple apps to choose from. Ideally it would be configured so that it could handle multiple files at once.

Add "When <some-particular-browser> is running" clause
I'd like a rule clause that says "If <some-particular-browser> is running".
It's a little strange, but my favourite browser is a script that opens a link in a new Chrome window.
I want to be able to say: "If Chrome is running, use my favourite browser".
Hmmm, after writing that (and sorting out in my head what I'd actually need from Choosy), I can see it might be a bit niche.

Support opening new browser via OnClick window.open method.
Lots of web apps don't provide actual links, but instead work using onClick window.open() techniques. These don't seem to trigger Choosy for me.

Permit extra steps before URL is opened (including Run Script)
Would it be possible to be able to configure additional steps before (and potentially after) the URL is opened, ideally to include "Run Script"? Like Hazel but for URLs.
The URL could be sent as a parameter to a script and its result optionally used to replace the URL.
This would permit (depending on the script):
- the URL to be rewritten
- a particular Keyboard Maestro macro to be run
- a particular browser window to be opened (all links from Mail open in a single window, say)
- swap to a particular desktop first (and use the version…1 vote -
Open Spotify URLs in Spotify
I'd like to open spotify URLs (e.g. https://open.spotify.com/track/foo?si=bar ) in Spotify. I tried adding Spotify as a browser without success.
As a workaround maybe an Automator app could be used and invoke Spotifys Applescript capabilities? How is the URL invoked with an app from Choosy?

Better iterm integration
Choosy has taken over cmd+click in my terminal. This great when I want to open a link. It is not so great when I want to open a file in my IDE.
For example, I get a merge conflict in my CLI and I want to cmd+click the file to open in my IDE. Choosy only lets me open it in a browser. It would be great if I can create a rule to ignore any file path that ends in
.js
. I tried to create a rule that would instead have it open a file that end in …1 vote -
Chrome extension: add the ability to set a default browser
When using the extension I always use the same browser (Safari) to open the links (from Brave), so clicking "Open with Choosy" and then selecting the browser is much slower than it could be.
Maybe you could keep the current menu option and add a second one, configurable, e.g. "Open with Safari".1 vote -
Way to have choosy start hidden when logging in?
Hi,
I've read that this should be possible, but can't figure out how to do it. I just did a fresh install of Choosy 2.2.1 on a new system and set it up to auto-start when logging in. I'm missing an option to start Choosy minimized/hidden, so that the UI is not shown after login.Any help / feedback for this?

Ability to test the rules
Sometimes I struggle writing my rules, especially when I use regex patterns. It would be great to test them against a set of URLs, so I can see if I precisely prepared the patterns or not.

Choosy extension > rules
I have the Choosy extension in Chrome and it works great for sending the current link to a browser of my choice. It would be nice if I could have Choosy treat it as an opened URL and follow the rules to direct it. Thank you!

Sporadic issues with email client
This issue is rather odd. I have a Macbook Pro as a work computer. I have Choosy set up as the default browser and it is configured so all applications use Microsoft Edge. I have a single rule set up in Choosy so personal apps use my personal browser, Opera. Everything works as expected. A few months back I switched my personal email client away from Apple's mail client to eM Client (https://www.emclient.com). For some reason Choosy seems to be having problems with this email program. Sometimes it opens links I click in eM correctly (Opera), other times…

Rule "Web address contains" does not work
I created a rule for Web address contains "onet" which should alway open in Safari. Now links containing "onet" displays prompt for choosing browser. It means simple rule does not work at all.

Disable Choosy Integrations
Since upgrading to version 2.3 on Ventura I keep getting repeated error messages that 'Choosy Integrations aren't working as expected" and behind the scenes 'MacOS reported error 48: The operation couldn't be completed. Address already in use'.
I don't plan on using the handoff or browser extensions and would like to turn off this functionality.
