  1. If, for example, I type in a GitHub URL or click on a link in the browser that points to a GitHub URL, and I have Choosy set up to open GitHub URLs in a different browser (such as a single-site browser), it would be nice if the Choosy extension could automatically capture that URL and open it in the specified browser, rather than depending on me clicking the Choosy toolbar icon.

    Does this make sense?

Basically, links in the browser should behave like links in, say, Mail, and open in the correct browser rather than just the browser you're…

  2. Because "#search=..." functionality does not seem to work in Chrome.

My potential project needs urls to launch in Firefox from Chrome using urls of the suffix form: ...pdf#search="wordToSearchFor" (Since I control the urls, yes I can use the Choosy url API prefixes)

  3. When specifying a string for a web address, allow "contains in domain" as an option.

For example, I have an account with Fidelity. They have multiple domains and subdomains, so I'd like to be able to write a rule that triggers for pages on "fidelity.com" or "www.fidelity.com" or "fidelitynetbenefits.com" to open in the specified browser, but I would not want the rule to trigger for "otherwebsite.com/reviews/fidelity"

I know this can be approximated with regex, but that seems finicky, and I think this issue may occur often enough to be worth having a dedicated option.

  4. There are a number of features that have been lingering. Human constraints are obviously a factor and this is just part of life. What if people could throw dollars to sponsor a particular feature they liked?

  5. It would be great to set choosy as the default for a specific file extension and have it display a list of multiple apps to choose from. Ideally it would be configured so that it could handle multiple files at once.

  6. I'd like a rule clause that says "If <some-particular-browser> is running".

It's a little strange, but my favourite browser is a script that opens a link in a new Chrome window.

I want to be able to say: "If Chrome is running, use my favourite browser".

Hmmm, after writing that (and sorting out in my head what I'd actually need from Choosy), I can see it might be a bit niche.

  7. Lots of web apps don't provide actual links, but instead work using onClick window.open() techniques. These don't seem to trigger Choosy for me.

  8. Would it be possible to be able to configure additional steps before (and potentially after) the URL is opened, ideally to include "Run Script"? Like Hazel but for URLs.

The URL could be sent as a parameter to a script and its result optionally used to replace the URL.

This would permit (depending on the script):
    - the URL to be rewritten
    - a particular Keyboard Maestro macro to be run
    - a particular browser window to be opened (all links from Mail open in a single window, say)
    - swap to a particular desktop first (and use the version…

  9. I gather that Choosy 2.2.1 is a universal app and should run natively on M1 computers. However, the installer package requires Rosetta. Is there a way to repackage the app so I do not need to let the system install Rosetta?

  10. I'd like to open spotify URLs (e.g. https://open.spotify.com/track/foo?si=bar ) in Spotify. I tried adding Spotify as a browser without success.

As a workaround maybe an Automator app could be used and invoke Spotifys Applescript capabilities? How is the URL invoked with an app from Choosy?

  12. Installed 0.93 over previous version. Each time I click on the pref pane, it tells me Choosy is not enabled. I tick all four boxes in the "enable Choosy" section, click "Start helper now" and press Cmd-Q.

On going back to the pref pane, I am warned about Choosy not being enabled AGAIN. All four boxes are unticked and the helper is shown as not running. (BTW, the first click on Choosy changes the title bar to "Loading Choosy" but the pane does not appear — I have to click it again to get this far)

    This happens even if I…

  13. The current version of Safari 4.0 beta is not detected as "running" by Choosy resulting in some annoying behavior.

  15. It would be great if you could make FileMaker google oauth play nice with a secondary browser, e.g. Vivaldi. I get as far as getting the rule to work: w.o.w. Vivaldi opens, automatically accepts, FileMaker continues the login... but Vivaldi stays open with the window open as well. And this is exactly the outcome that I want to avoid. After 10 auths there are windows all over the place. It would be nice if the operation works just like the browser is the default browser: if it is not open, it starts, opens the auth window, authenticates, closes the window,…
