  1. Was glad to see the new Firefox extension update since it hadn't been working before, but now I don't see the Open with Choosy menu option anywhere in the context menu when I right click on a link. Did that break in this version bump or am I doing something wrong?

  2. BUG REPORT:

With Tweetbot 3.3.3 and Choosy 2.1 under macOS 10.15.6, if I view a tweet from the @consequence account that contains a link and I try to click on that link, the Choosy browser chooser appears, but the link bar underneath is empty, and clicking on a browser doesn't work. (Nothing happens.)

So far I am only able to reproduce it with links from that particular Twitter account, which are shortened with a custom scheme using the form

    http://cos.lv/xxxxx

Something in this doesn't agree with Choosy's default behaviour.

HOWEVER, if, instead of simply clicking on the link, I right-click…

  4. Choosy is great! The only problem I am having is with links to G-docs in Gmail. No matter what I try, I can't get Choosy to launch when I click on any link to any G-doc. It always opens in the browser I am using, or from an email client whichever browser has been defined as the system default.

  5. The preference sheet for advanced rule editing allows itself to be resized, but the input field for "Web address contains" rule is fixed in size. It should resize in response to the sheet size.

  6. Could you add the option to send links to Instapaper and other similar bookmarking services? When we're in a browser, we can easily do that (especially with browser plugins) but this is not an option in non-browser apps. For example, it would be nice to open a link from my mail client and send it directly to Instapaper.

  7. Is this possible atm?
I've tried Advanced section with Download Shuttle, by setting rule if web address ends in zip or dmg or iso, but Safari just downloads the file and Choosy does not intercept and parse to Download Shuttle.

    Ideas?

  8. since updating chrome to latest version today (86.0.4240.198) - the responsiveness from clicking on links and choosing the browser to the link being opened in chrome has been really slow!
any ideas? is it just me?

  9. I think this started when I upgraded Firefox. I just updated Choosey to 2.2.1 and I see the same behavior. Any link I try to follow via Choosey, when I select Firefox, it goes to my default Firefox homepage instead of the intended link. This doesn't happen w/ Safari.

  10. I'd love to be able to sync the rules between multiple machines so I don't have to re-create rules on my desktop, laptop, etc.

  11. I love that Choosy supports individual Chrome profiles. Unfortunately the feature does not work with Google Chrome Beta or Google Chrome Canary. Would it be possible to support profiles in those browser variants as well?

  12. When I try to add a Google account to an app like Fantastical, the oAuth link results in a 400 Error when Choosy is used to pass the URL to the browser.

For example, when using Choosy to pass the link from Fantastical to Safari, the requested URL starts with "https://accounts.google.com/signin/oauth/legacy/consent?authuser=0&part=blahblahblah....."

This URL results in a 400 Error ("The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know.").

When I disable Choosy, and just have the link open in the default browser, the URL passed looks different. It looks…

  13. When setting up a rule, if the resulting action ends in "...", the interface does not make clear what the user should do to finish the setup process. The simplest way to make the interface clearer would probably be to change the text on the "Change" button to something like "Pick" or "Choose", and perhaps use a placeholder with text like "No browser chosen" where the browser icon and browser name would be once a browser has been chosen.

If you were to redesign the interface a little bit more, it might make sense to make the entire area below…

  14. If, for example, I type in a GitHub URL or click on a link in the browser that points to a GitHub URL, and I have Choosy set up to open GitHub URLs in a different browser (such as a single-site browser), it would be nice if the Choosy extension could automatically capture that URL and open it in the specified browser, rather than depending on me clicking the Choosy toolbar icon.

    Does this make sense?

Basically, links in the browser should behave like links in, say, Mail, and open in the correct browser rather than just the browser you're…

  15. I propose adding a trigger that allows you to create rules based on the time of day. As an example, I might make a rule that if it is between 9:00-17:00 then open Chrome. And if it's between 17:00-23:00, then open Firefox. And if it's really late, open Safari to drive me nuts ;-P

  16. Because "#search=..." functionality does not seem to work in Chrome.

My potential project needs urls to launch in Firefox from Chrome using urls of the suffix form: ...pdf#search="wordToSearchFor" (Since I control the urls, yes I can use the Choosy url API prefixes)

  17. When specifying a string for a web address, allow "contains in domain" as an option.

For example, I have an account with Fidelity. They have multiple domains and subdomains, so I'd like to be able to write a rule that triggers for pages on "fidelity.com" or "www.fidelity.com" or "fidelitynetbenefits.com" to open in the specified browser, but I would not want the rule to trigger for "otherwebsite.com/reviews/fidelity"

I know this can be approximated with regex, but that seems finicky, and I think this issue may occur often enough to be worth having a dedicated option.

  18. There are a number of features that have been lingering. Human constraints are obviously a factor and this is just part of life. What if people could throw dollars to sponsor a particular feature they liked?

  20. It would be great to set choosy as the default for a specific file extension and have it display a list of multiple apps to choose from. Ideally it would be configured so that it could handle multiple files at once.
