Choosy seems to request NVidia 330M graphics when running
Choosy seems to request that the system switch to the NVidia 330M graphics card rather than integrated graphics when running on the latest Macbook Pro.
This is detected using : http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus/
The downside of this is that it can have a significant impact on battery life, especially given that it's a background/resident app.
I’m currently working on a complete rewrite of the way Choosy displays prompts and dropping CoreAnimation which should resolve this issue.

is there any further progression on this issue? It's been over a year.

Brilliant James, thank you. I've spent days reading around this, but I'd not come across that particular information. Update coming very soon.

Hi All,
I found a fix for the issue.
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#qa/qa1734/_index.htmlEditing the Info.plist which is in:
/Users/james/Library/PreferencePanes/Choosy.prefPane/Contents/Resources/Choosy.app/ContentsThen add in NSSupportsAutomaticGraphicsSwitching value to true either using VIM or Xcode.
Restart the Choosy process and voila, no more switching graphics. Now I don't have to kill Choosy everytime I need a bit more battery life! :)
Hopefully the developer, George can make this change for everyone in the app.
Thanks,
/James -

Really looking forward to having this completed. It's the only app which drinks my battery juice.
How long before we get an update?

This suggestion is a year old, and it really bugs me! I absolutely love Choosy, but I'm finding myself just not using it because I don't want to switch to the discrete graphics card. Please fix it!

What is the status of this feature? It is a big heat issue having the discrete graphics on all the time, even when nothing is really running, because choosy was invoked once upon a time.

I love Choosy and use it all the time. I am considering turing it off due to this issue - it means that if I click a link that invokes Choosy the discrete graphics card is triggered and never reverts back to integrated graphics.
Thanks for your work - I love the product but I cannot continue to use it unless this is resolved. Hope it's an easy fix.

Oh, that suggestion was from me, before I logged in. Sorry for the double vote.
