add OS X Applications to what Choosy can let you "Choose"
Choosy is such a godsend for keeping ME in control of what browser launches what file/link!
After wrestiling with OSX today to stop it from launching an app for a filetype of which I prefer another application to launch by default instead, I found myself thinking "damn, I wish there was a version of Choosy that worked with Application launching".
Yes, I know you can right-click on a flie and tell it to open with another app (or option click and set it as a default), but Finder context menus can be VERY sluggish, depending on what other Finder extensions or filetype associations you have. And the "Open With" menu gets so fricken polluted with apps that you would NEVER use to open the file, that you always end up dreading right-clicking on a file to open it with a different app.
ManyTricks has a freebie "Open With Manager" app which is no longer developed and supported, and works okay, but it still doesnt let you exclude certain apps from the Open With menu for some reason (i.e. Path Finder).
If Choosy could let you create a list of preferred apps for specific filetypes, and display the popup icon Chooser when you click on a file, that would be awesome!

not sure how this works with URLs. i get the general concept of avoiding the 'open with' context menu that i also dont like but it seems you're talking about something that's a finder extension. quicksilver allows this type of behavior.
