  1. There are a number of features that have been lingering. Human constraints are obviously a factor and this is just part of life. What if people could throw dollars to sponsor a particular feature they liked?

  2. I'm using Chrome and Epichrome as two separate full-featured browsers and have added both to Choosy.

Under "Browsers" they show with their respective app names, but both show the Chrome icon.

In the Prompt, they both show up as "Chrome" with the Chrome icon.

While it might be a bit different than usual as these browsers are heavily related, they show correctly in the MacOS Dock and switcher.

Please detect these names correctly, or allow customising the prompt names and icons.

  3. When specifying a string for a web address, allow "contains in domain" as an option.

For example, I have an account with Fidelity. They have multiple domains and subdomains, so I'd like to be able to write a rule that triggers for pages on "fidelity.com" or "www.fidelity.com" or "fidelitynetbenefits.com" to open in the specified browser, but I would not want the rule to trigger for "otherwebsite.com/reviews/fidelity"

I know this can be approximated with regex, but that seems finicky, and I think this issue may occur often enough to be worth having a dedicated option.

  4. Because "#search=..." functionality does not seem to work in Chrome.

My potential project needs urls to launch in Firefox from Chrome using urls of the suffix form: ...pdf#search="wordToSearchFor" (Since I control the urls, yes I can use the Choosy url API prefixes)

  5. If, for example, I type in a GitHub URL or click on a link in the browser that points to a GitHub URL, and I have Choosy set up to open GitHub URLs in a different browser (such as a single-site browser), it would be nice if the Choosy extension could automatically capture that URL and open it in the specified browser, rather than depending on me clicking the Choosy toolbar icon.

    Does this make sense?

Basically, links in the browser should behave like links in, say, Mail, and open in the correct browser rather than just the browser you're…

  6. When setting up a rule, if the resulting action ends in "...", the interface does not make clear what the user should do to finish the setup process. The simplest way to make the interface clearer would probably be to change the text on the "Change" button to something like "Pick" or "Choose", and perhaps use a placeholder with text like "No browser chosen" where the browser icon and browser name would be once a browser has been chosen.

If you were to redesign the interface a little bit more, it might make sense to make the entire area below…

  8. Since I updated to latest, every time I use choosy to open a link, I get 2 windows that open. One the correct URL and one a blank window

  9. When opening a page in Firefox, Firefox will spawn an additional new window (set to whatever is the preference of "Firefox Home" or blank page). This happens when Firefox isn't running aka is a cold start. The Firefox preference "open links in tabs" solves this problem, but only if Firefox is running.

This is seen on macOS Big Sur running the latest version of all the apps.

  10. I love that Choosy supports individual Chrome profiles. Unfortunately the feature does not work with Google Chrome Beta or Google Chrome Canary. Would it be possible to support profiles in those browser variants as well?

  11. I run Chrome with four different profiles. I love that Choosy makes it possible to use each of the profiles as a separate browser option. On feature that would make life just a little bit smoother is the ability to customize the icon for each browser. It would make it quicker and easier to identify and select the browser I want to send the page to.

Also, thank you for making Choosy! It has proven to be a great tool for me!

  12. I would really appreciate the option for in-browser links to be routed through Choosy. I use many Site-Specific Browsers and I mainly bought Choosy to have it automatically direct to the appropriate SSB while using my main browser.

For example. I'd like to direct all YouTube URLs to an SSB of a specific account. If I I'm not paying attention, which is likely to happen eventually, I'll slip up and forget to open the url with Choosy.

I read an older comment that it was by design, but I think it's worth reconsidering. Choosy could default to the way it…

  15. I think this started when I upgraded Firefox. I just updated Choosey to 2.2.1 and I see the same behavior. Any link I try to follow via Choosey, when I select Firefox, it goes to my default Firefox homepage instead of the intended link. This doesn't happen w/ Safari.

  16. It would be very useful to be able to open any URL from anywhere in macOS within Choosy via a macOS Share extension.

This feature would have the added bonus of making the Choosy Safari extension optional.

  17. since updating chrome to latest version today (86.0.4240.198) - the responsiveness from clicking on links and choosing the browser to the link being opened in chrome has been really slow!
any ideas? is it just me?

  18. Sometimes I'd like to open a link in a new browser window. If I'm inside a browser I can hold down (generally) shift when I click the link, and a new window will be opened. However, Choosy doesn't seem to expose a way to do this.

I think this can be implemented without interfering with the existing modifiers feature, by having the behavior change occur once the popup is already open. Because not all browsers would support this, it could probably be signposted by changing the label on supported-browsers to e.g. "Firefox (new window)" once the modifier is pressed.

  20. Usually I want my links to open in whichever browser I was using most recently so that would be a great default behaviour.
