Welcome to Choosy’s official feedback forum. Do you have an idea? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? I want to hear from you!

Remember to check the Roadmap too and see what’s already planned…

I suggest you...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can vote and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can vote on it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

Sorry for the continuing delays in getting licenses out. There are some PayPal issues which I’m waiting on. As of now, there shouldn’t be anyone waiting on a license, but new purchases over the next few days might still take a little while to be fulfilled.

    • make it so that Choosy works with Archy.

There is a nice new Google Drive client named Archy. But when I use Archy and Choosy together, I cannot open links from Choosy, in Archy. It would be nice to get this to work somehow. Any ideas would be helpful.

      • Different options for left & right mouse clicks

I'd like to have it so that a left click uses the default system browser, and a right click brings up Choosy, or at least Choosy's browser list in the contextual menu. There seems to be no option for this in settings or advanced rules.

        • Choosy Helper stops listening frequently

Using the Choosy browser plugin in Safari to switch to Chrome (typically when a site needs Adobe Flash), often the browser will report that it doesn't understand URLs of the type x-choosy… (etc). The helper is allegedly running according to the Preference Pane. Stopping and starting the helper restores normal operation.

          • Add behaviour: do not prompt, stay in current browser

I only want to use the advanced behaviour rules but I can't use that without constantly being promted in other browsers.

Solution: add a behaviuor option: do not promt, stay in current browser.

            • Support for all document types

I love choosy, but I would love it even more if I could use it for all document types, not just hyperlinks. It would be nice if the user could define the file extension(s) and relavent applications, and then customize the preference as with the current choosy. This would be especially useful for .doc .pdf .mp3 etc...

                • Sign Choosy for 10.8/Gatekeeper

10.8/Gatekeeper currently seems to preclude the use of Choosy by default. I’m unsure of whether preference panes can be signed with Gatekeeper the way applications can, but it would be very nice <3

Thanks for making a great utility!

                    • Bug? - View in (null)

The Reeder app was recently updated and I've noticed that the Context Menu item for Choosy is now "View in (Null)" instead of "View in Choosy" I don't'know if this is an issue with Choosy or Reeder, but thought I'd point it out in both support forums.

                        • Open link in browser in background broken in Mountain Lion

On Lion, when I Command-Clicked on a link in another app & then chose a browser in Choosy, that link would open with the browser remaining in the background.

This behavior appears to be broken in Mountain Lion. No matter what I do, when I Command-Click on a link in another app & select Safari, for instance, Safari immediately jumps to the foreground.

Any chance this can get fixed? Without it, Choosy is kind of annoying
instead of awesome, like it normally is. :)

                          • Choosy not opening Twitter notifications from Notification Center in tweetdeck

Choosy is not opening tweetdeck when links from twitter notifications in notification center are set to redirect there via rules, I have all my general preferences set to safari, just wanted Choosy to open those specific redirections in Tweedeck, any idea what I could be doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the help

                            • fix tweetdeck

Choosy doesn't behave correctly with Tweetdeck. I've set a rule to launch Chrome, but it always opens links in Safari. Won't respect the modifier key either.

                              • Choosy does not match ReadNow.app in rule definition

I have a rule which says "if source application is /Applications/ReadNow.app, use best running browser". However, even if I promote this rule to rule 1, when I open a link from ReadNow, I am asked to select from all running browsers instead of it Just Working and opening the link in Safari.

Choosy works correctly with similar rules referencing other applications. What's going wrong here?

                                  • remove the git repo from the distributable

While looking for a while to automate a global git status I noticed Choosy includes a git repo within its resources.

                                    ~/Library/PreferencePanes/Choosy.prefPane/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ChoosyHelp/.git

                                      Fluid v1.4

The current SSB stays focused, however the Window loses focus (the Application is still the foremost application, however).

Choosy works by setting itself as the default browser. This problem often arises when another browser sets itself as the default (e.g. many browsers nag you to set them as the default when they are launched, and if you do so Choosy will be disabled)

Could this be the cause of your problem?

                                        • Fix the menu leak with pie menus.

When using pie menu display, the Real Memory allocation increases by about 3 megs each time you click a URL.
