  1. Is it just me or is the Safari toolbar icon wonky in the 2.2.1 release? It's super tiny compared to other apps' icons. See screenshot: https://www.evernote.com/l/AASfNSW2iqxBhL9MreuwlsmX25i9FvtH-jg

  2. Orion browser allows to install extensions from both Firefox and Chrome extension stores. I can install the extension but clicking the icon in the toolbar does nothing. It might be an issue on the Orion side of things, but I'm also opening this suggestion here in case there's something that can be done.

  3. I have the Choosy extension in Chrome and it works great for sending the current link to a browser of my choice. It would be nice if I could have Choosy treat it as an opened URL and follow the rules to direct it. Thank you!

  4. Sometimes I struggle writing my rules, especially when I use regex patterns. It would be great to test them against a set of URLs, so I can see if I precisely prepared the patterns or not.

  5. Hi,
I've read that this should be possible, but can't figure out how to do it. I just did a fresh install of Choosy 2.2.1 on a new system and set it up to auto-start when logging in. I'm missing an option to start Choosy minimized/hidden, so that the UI is not shown after login.

Any help / feedback for this?

  6. You already solved a similar issue with the padding, but now it appears that the incorrect asset is being shown, as the icon is very small and it appears only on the bottom left corner of the button.

Example can be seen here: https://cln.sh/y9nk4UK6lflgYKR2wflZ

    Thanks!

  7. When using the extension I always use the same browser (Safari) to open the links (from Brave), so clicking "Open with Choosy" and then selecting the browser is much slower than it could be.
Maybe you could keep the current menu option and add a second one, configurable, e.g. "Open with Safari".

  8. I've set up a number of rules in Choosy, to pick specific Chrome profiles based on a URL match. This works very well, except from Slack. When I click a link in Slack, Choosy always shows me the list of browsers, rather than automatically picking the appropriate one.

Perhaps this has to do with URL obfuscation/redirection being done by Slack? (no idea)

  9. New Safari (macOS Monetary) adds the new Tab Groups feature. Add support in Choosy to open a link a specific Tab Group

  10. When using the "From iPhone" handoff, MacOS seems to use the System's default browser to decide where how to open. With Choosy set as the default browser, it always opens handoff links in Safari.

  11. I gather that Choosy 2.2.1 is a universal app and should run natively on M1 computers. However, the installer package requires Rosetta. Is there a way to repackage the app so I do not need to let the system install Rosetta?

  12. Since I installed macOS 11.6, Choosy v2.2.1 shows the main window every time I restart my computer. Is there a way to allow Choosy to start in background mode? I have to close the main window every time I turn on the computer and it is a bit annoying. Thanks!

  13. I'd like to open spotify URLs (e.g. https://open.spotify.com/track/foo?si=bar ) in Spotify. I tried adding Spotify as a browser without success.

As a workaround maybe an Automator app could be used and invoke Spotifys Applescript capabilities? How is the URL invoked with an app from Choosy?

  14. Add a "None" option to the browser list so a rule can simply do nothing with no UI or prompt.

  15. Choosy has taken over cmd+click in my terminal. This great when I want to open a link. It is not so great when I want to open a file in my IDE.

For example, I get a merge conflict in my CLI and I want to cmd+click the file to open in my IDE. Choosy only lets me open it in a browser. It would be great if I can create a rule to ignore any file path that ends in .js. I tried to create a rule that would instead have it open a file that end in …

  16. I use a "desktop" app called Shift (tryshift.com) to manage multiple gmail accounts. It's effectively a browser that wraps multiple instances of gmail and provides a nice user interface for switching between active accounts.

Ideally, I'd like to force Google Hangout links from the included Google Calendar view to open in Google Chrome (instead of the in-app browser).

For whatever reason, choosy can't seem to match against any combination of the hangout links (meet.google.com, etc).

The only thing that works is assigning a modifier key then clicking the Hangout link. Any idea how to make this work without the modifier?

  17. In rules, the modifier key always includes Escape whenever I try any modifier key or combination. Escape creates problems. If I try to leave it as Escape, it usually triggers a system alert or exits. I want a backdoor that if I want to open a link in a browser and have a rule that opens the link in a specific browser, I can use the modifier key to force choosy's menu. That could be an app-wide preference instead of the rule. Or else how to make the rule not include the escape key by default?

  18. Would it be possible to be able to configure additional steps before (and potentially after) the URL is opened, ideally to include "Run Script"? Like Hazel but for URLs.

The URL could be sent as a parameter to a script and its result optionally used to replace the URL.

This would permit (depending on the script):
    - the URL to be rewritten
    - a particular Keyboard Maestro macro to be run
    - a particular browser window to be opened (all links from Mail open in a single window, say)
    - swap to a particular desktop first (and use the version…

  19. Lots of web apps don't provide actual links, but instead work using onClick window.open() techniques. These don't seem to trigger Choosy for me.

  20. I have several Choosy rules to open links differently based on which application is active. But for the 'Fantastical' 3 app, this rule doesn't trigger. Any ideas?
